How the Process Works, Step by Step
Every trenchless job follows the same basic path:
- Camera inspection. We start by running a sewer camera through the line to see exactly what is wrong and where. This tells us the type of damage, its location, and which method will work best.
- Cleaning the line. Before any repair, the pipe is cleared of roots, grease, and scale, sometimes with pipe descaling, so the repair bonds properly.
- The repair. Depending on the pipe's condition, we use one of the methods below.
- Final inspection. A second camera pass confirms the repair is solid before we close up.
The Main Trenchless Methods
Cured-in-place pipe lining (CIPP). A flexible liner coated in resin is inserted into the damaged pipe and inflated so it presses against the old walls, then cured until it hardens into a smooth new pipe within the old one. This is the workhorse of trenchless repair and is ideal for cracks, leaks, root intrusion, and corrosion. We handle this as both interior pipelining and exterior pipelining depending on the situation.
Pipe bursting. When a pipe is collapsed or too damaged to line, pipe bursting pulls a new pipe through the old one while a bursting head breaks the old pipe apart and pushes it into the surrounding soil. It replaces the line along its existing path without a full trench.
Descaling. Older cast-iron lines often fill with scale and buildup that restrict flow. Descaling clears the pipe back to its original diameter and is sometimes all a line needs, or it preps the pipe for lining.
