tldr: the employees are friendly (hence the 2 stars not 1), the prices are a crime, the scheduling is a joke, the service is mediocre. On multiple occasions Lanz came to fix a problem, failed to fix it properly, and then had to come back and fix it again.First time: blocked drain. Guy 1, "unclogs" it and leaves, charging me 200. Did not fix the symptom OR the cause. Guy 2, finds the cause (poorly arranged pipes in the basement), fixes the symptom and not the cause. Guy 3, starts fixing the cause (quotes a price)... realizes he planned his solution poorly. Quotes me a new price that is double the previous. He's already started repairs so what am I to do??? Lanz DID give me a credit for the first dispatch, but the overall price was still over 1000$ for a few hours of work rerouting pipes.Second time: new toilet install. Leaking a year later, no discount, no accountability. I felt like I bought a used car from Matilda's father, it ran JUST long enough to survive the warranty.There were also two other occasions with no particular issues with the service, except for the price which came out to around $400/hour!!
My parents had Lanz out for a clogged drain, and an unknown leak with their bathroom plumbing. Lanz was quick, extremely professional, considerate and even pointed them in the right direction for recommended repairs. This is the new family “go-to” company for HVAC, plumbing and underground solutions.
We were interested in a second opinion on a heating/ac system, and Lanz was willing to come out within a day to provide the second opinion. My sister, who needed the second opinion, has memory problems. She forgot that the tech was coming and at the first visit was out walking her dog and not home. The tech was very kind, and came back later in the day to provide the service call. He serviced the system for a very reasonable price in comparison to the other company, and we are now solid Lanz customers.
The technicians at Lanz Plumbing, Heating and Cooling installed a new furnace and A/C in my house in one day. They were friendly and professional in all respects. I recommend them highly without any reservations.
On May 12, 2025, my elderly mother had Lanz Heating and Cooling come to her home in Philo Ill, and complete a water issue that has been bad for a couple years.I can't say enough about the men who came, worked hard and respected the property, inside and out. Our salesman, Michael, was friendly, professional, thorough, and responsive. I asked many questions and always felt my time and satisfaction were valued. When Michael didn’t know the answer, he found someone who did. Proposals were provided promptly and even revised for me several times on request. Lanz is not the cheapest Vendor out there, but I have literally nothing bad to say about my entire encounter from the first phone call to the completion of the installation. They even have checked in several times in the following weeks to make sure the equipment was operating to my satisfaction. We also had plumbing work done and I am highly satisfied. Once again, not the least expensive but I feel great peace of mind with the work that has been done in my home. A great company with an exceptional team!Will the Technician came to help after we accidentally hit a wire on the AC unit while trimming grass. He was courteous, professional, and thoroughly considerate and helpful in the repair!
I was told my furnace and air conditioner needed to be replaced and that the cost would be $20,000.I contacted Lanz Plumbing, Heating & Cooling for a second opinion. Turns out both the furnace and the air conditioner are working normally; no repairs were needed.Thank you for your prompt response and your honest assessment of the need.
Tom, Austin, and Shannon did an excellent job in getting my plumbing issue fixed, and I'm grateful for how prompt and professional they were. Lance are very professional .by noontime I had a brand new furnace and a brand new air conditioner unit. They did a wonderful job, very nice people, very polite, very talkative. There's nothing but good words to say about everybody in my purchase .

From the initial consultation and walk-through with Kurt, to the final handshakes with Jamie and Austin, this company has exceeded all expectations. Wealth of knowledge and experience, ability to set goals and meet them, and willingness to do what it takes to get the job done well are hallmarks of a quality company. And these people have them in spades. Our home is a tri-level that has only ever had baseboard heat so everything had to be installed from scratch. No easy task, but Kurt bid it well for the right equipment at a fair price, and Jaime and Austin made it happen...On 3 different levels, for 3 solid days , in 95+ heat...The entire system looks and functions like pros did it..'cause they did. Are we satisfied? ..Yes for sure.. Would we recommend Lanz? . Yes..and they can put a sign in our yard anytime.. I was very pleased with Lance plumbing today on the ground crew. They came in and had a sewer back up. They came in and auger me out camera it. Marked marked it for me and showed me exactly what they was doing and I was very pleased with him at this point I recommend Austin to anybody great kid. He explained everything what he was doing, and he videoed everything and checked everything. I was very, very, very impressed with him and he knew exactly what he was doing and every move that he made Was right on right on the Dot man
Just had Aiden, Caleb, and Tony over to service our heating, cooling, and water system for the first time. As a first time home owner, I really appreciated how patient they all were and how knowledgeable they were about everything! They did a great job to make sure I knew what was going on and why they did what they did in the service, and they made sure I understood why they made any recommendations they had! I plan to ask for them again when its time for the next maintenance need!
I needed a mini split unit worked. The tech arrived on time and was very friendly. He was very knowledgeable on my unit and what needed to be done. The tech also made a few suggestions which would increase the efficiency of the air flow in the residence. The professionalism displayed by the tech was amazing. I will not use any other company for my heating and air conditioning needs.

I had a water leak under my home-on a slab. I had called a company I had been a customer for years and they would have been able to do it as planned. Unfortunately the way things went it was one obstacle after another and was going to be a huge mess.Not the fault of the first company, just one thing after another unexpected thing making a relatively simple job a real headache.I called Lanz and they eased my mind considerably just telling me what they could do. They had the needed equipment to bore under the foundation and run a new water line without tearing up far more of my yard. They did a great job, cleaned up better than expected and at a reasonable cost.I am quiet pleased with their work and do recommend them.
2 other companies wanted me to spend thousands for an outside cleanout for my mainline. They said without it they couldn't remove the tree roots. The men from Lanz were very professional and cleaned the entire line easily. You get what you pay for.

We recently hired LANZ to replace our aged HV/AC system, Water heater and would recommend this company to anyone looking for work on, or replacement of they're homes system. The sales man, Kurt, he really helped us out, was very personable, knowledgeable and thorough in his presentation. A good guy, as were the Crew that came in 7am, as they said, and got busy straight away! The crew of Cody, Kevin and Ethan,Thomas, I know I'm missing a couple of name's there, all had tasks that they started on and it was a bevy of activity in our basement. They replaced furnace, condenser , water heater and, some duct work that I didn't know was being changed, by 2:30. Whole system looks Great guys!! "Excellent Service" doesn't do them justice.We had the coldest days of the year this year (January of 2025) with expectations of sub zero temperatures. Our home had the original -- tired -- HVAC system that came with the house and it decided to go out -- as it does -- at the worst possible time. It was discovered that we had multiple gas leaks, a broken heat exchange and a bad regulator. We were encouraged to buy a new system.It was a bit of a crisis. We have an 8 month old and have had some financial setbacks. The day before severe weather I called Lanz and was told by dispatch that someone might not be able to reach us until the next day. Luckily a technician came by after regular hours to take a look at our furnace and discoved the problems I mentioned. Our sales rep also came by that same day so we could get things moving as soon as possible. He was able to schedule installation within the same week with a reasonable payment plan. Foretunately we only had to use space heaters for a few days.Installation was fantastic, they went above and beyond to take care of our install. They even had plumbers on hand to take care of our gas leaks the same day.Everyone involved was compassionate, knowledgeableand timely. I highly recommend Lanz.
Our furnace quit kicking on and Lanz was very fast in getting someone out to fix it. Good customer service, and fixed it quickly as well. I definitely don't want to have to call them, but in the event the furnace quits on us again, I'd choose them again.
